UV/AV comes from a faraway utopian dimension: a series of rooms containing a small population of photosynthetic beings.
This dimension has two seasons.
During Basking Season, carpet grows thick from wall to wall, and lights emanate the warm glow of UV rays. Aromatherapy diffusers pump a cool, scented breeze into the rooms. The beings sprawl out on the carpet, wrapped in sheer netting. For 90 days they absorb light, compose song poems, hold lectures, and practice idea transmission.
During Rave Season, the carpet dissolves into parquet floors, and the lights blink to the sound of loud, energetic disco. The beings use all their stored energy on a 3-month ecstatic, nude dancing ritual.
But over the past few seasons these photoautotrophs have noticed a change. The normally bright and warm UV light has steadily dimmed. They are not able to absorb enough energy during the Bask to keep up their dancing for the whole Rave. The once spectacular and exciting light shows of Rave Season have become muted and cold, with a latency that doesn't vibe with the rhythm and soul of the disco.
A small unit has volunteered to venture out of their dimension to a place they’ve learned of from the only video broadcasts they’ve ever received: the BBC documentary series Planet Earth. This Planet Earth seems to have a strong, harsh light that nurtures billions of diverse beings. The volunteers are tasked with harnessing this light and bringing it back to their dimension before it is too late.
Not being accustomed to wearing much clothing at all, the beings created three essential pieces to withstand the harsh climates of this new dimension while keeping a low profile. An all-weather cloak, a jumpsuit, and a hammock for sleeping make up the first collection from UV/AV, a clothing system designed for any journey.
